Women in Leadership - Unlocking Potential

Situation 

The JB Hi-Fi Group proudly brings together three retail brands: JB Hi-Fi, The Good Guys and e&s. With over 300 stores across Australia, New Zealand, and online platforms, the Group also supports commercial, insurance, and education sectors through JB Hi-Fi Solutions. Recognising the importance of developing diverse and inclusive leaders and teams, the Group has refreshed and enhanced its Women in Leadership program, aligning it with its Leadership Development strategy.  

Action 

In 2023, People Measures commenced a partnership with the JB Hi-Fi Group to create and deliver a dynamic 4-month leadership development program.  

This program is designed to empower participants and includes: 

• A pre-program briefing for participants and their managers. 
• Two in-person workshop days. 
• Two virtual group coaching sessions. 
• Individual reflection activities. 
• Tailored development plan; and 
• CliftonStrengths assessments. 

It is focused on essential leadership topics, such as: 

• Understanding yourself and leveraging your strengths; 
• The difference between leading and managing; 
• Defining your leadership purpose and values; 
• Mastering breakthrough conversations;  
• Building a professional brand; and 
• Understanding positive influencing skills. 

Delivered through a collaborative co-facilitation model, the program pairs a People Measures facilitator with an experienced internal HR executive. This approach combines expert women’s leadership insights with tailored, brand-specific context, ensuring participants gain practical skills and meaningful business relevance. 

Results  

The feedback from participants demonstrated the positive impact of the program. Participants shared reflections such as: 

• ‘This has been life-changing for me. I have loved the opportunity to work on my personal development which has helped open up new opportunities.’

The feedback from both participants and managers has been overwhelmingly positive, reflecting the program’s success in driving meaningful leadership development at JB Hi-Fi Group.
