Allyship Program for Men

Our Allyship Program for Men is called Step UP and it is a program like no other. For more than ten years People Measures has been successfully running Women in Leadership programs, with literally hundreds of participants. We realised that a key missing gap was a program for men.

What is the StepUp Program?

The StepUp program invites and challenges men to StepUp, and to educate them – on the experience of women in the workplace – and on the critical role they need to play as allies – in the advancement of Diversity and Inclusion in organisations.

But be warned. This isn’t about making men feel like ‘Champions’ – just for doing what women have been doing on their own for years – nor is it about collective guilt and shame.

This is a program that invites men to be unwavering and courageous in their self-reflection and examine the part they play in perpetuating the current system.

It unapologetically invites them to be outspoken and active about the role they choose to play in pushing for equity and diversity.

What we offer

StepUp can be delivered in-house and tailored for your organisation and your particular gender challenges, or with a group of men from different organisations at People Measures’ public program. The core of the program is three days of workshops (delivered as a combination of full and half days), plus individual coaching, and a meaningful action project delivered by participants.

The learning outcomes you can expect are:

  • Understanding of gender and how it impacts one’s own and others’ lived experiences
  • Knowledge of how gender is related to power and privilege
  • Appreciation of the universal nature of gender bias
  • Awareness of the benefits of gender equity for business, for women, for men, for families and for society
  • Strategies for promoting gender equity
  • Techniques for engaging other men in gender diversity efforts
  • Increased willingness to advocate for gender equity
  • Increased commitment to challenging gender-biased mindsets and work practices

Are you and your men brave enough? If you think so – come and speak to us or ask for more information at StepUp@peoplemeasures.com.au.

“We need more men with the guts, with the courage, with the strength, with the moral integrity to break our complicit silence and challenge each other and stand with women and not against them.” – Jackson Katz
